Did Anyone See...

The loonie lady running and screaming?
Or was I too fast?
Not only does Little Man NOT weigh 15 lbs. He lost an ounce!!!! He weighs 14 lbs. 13 ozs. How, pray tell, does a non-mobile 15 month old kid not at least maintain? Has Jack LaLane been coming into my house at night making my kiddo do push-ups? I feel like the day after Christmas! We have a few more foods & combos to try & we get to lay on a scale again in a month. Maybe I can get him to gain a measly 3 ounces? I guess we'll see. At least his still as cute as ever. :)
Jan. is going to a big month for us. We see both the nuerosurgeon & cranio-facial surgeon as well as starting weekly PT, in addition to our monthly weigh-ins. We also have lots of planning to do to get to Duke. I'm hoping to get there before Spring.

I understand that feeling of worry and obsession over calories, food, and weight gain. Cayman's pretty small and has not been on the weight charts since she was like 6 or 7 months old. The doctor was pretty concerned about it for a long time and I started to worry a lot. But then I took in account of how well Cayman eats, she receives daily vitamins, minerals, and supplements (she's not nutritionally deprived), and I just decided it's not a problem that she's under weight. And I don't let the doctors carry me away in their concern anymore.

I would say, you know your boy best. If you think there's a problem then trust your instinct. but if not, then keep feeding him well (the higher caloric the better)and he'll create it own weight curve on the chart. Cayman has.

I also suggest talking to Jill (Matthew's mommy). She has excellent, healthy ideas on weight gain for a baby. She's full of wisdom!

I'm sorry that all that effort you've been making didn't get the results you were hoping for...but I'm sure it will pay off in the end. And I think those were some wise words from Kristen.

Agreeing with Kristen and Josephine. Don't be too hard on ol' Jack, esp. if his PT seems to channel him. Muscle weighs more than fat, er, is denser per portion. Full swing ahead, eh?

Very Merry Christmas!

Carla,
Who are you going to see at Duke. We have been there they are good! Faith also had craniofacial surgery for craniosynostosis at 10 months. so I feel you, sister!

Elisabeth seems to have the opposite problem (she harldy eats and won't stop gaining) so I don't have any personal experiences or knowledge to share, but I think what Kristen said is spot on. You are feeding him well and giving his body everything he needs. So take comfort in that and know that he is going to be just fine.

Merry Christmas!
