This is My New Year's Eve...

Yup! Tonite is my "New Year's". You see, I am not a winter person- at all. In fact, its a good thing that I now live in TX &  no longer live in NY because this past winter was brutal for me. I know now that cold weather & lack of sun shine do a number on my morale. It's horrible! Its all I can do to get the minimum done. I'm much more suited to Spring and ever since I became born again & accepted Jesus I have used Easter as my New Year's Day. Its much more fitting for me to begin new resolutions, traditions, and goals with Easter- the ultimate New Begining. I mean, people are born ever day- Only ONE has conquered sin & death. Happy Easter indeed! And Happy New Year!!

While I have been MIA I have been reading & researching & to be honest, if I read one more article, blurb, tweet or quip about nutrition, I'm gonna barf. I think I actually did when I saw somewhere that the scent of strawberries can slow a siezure. The big thing I learned is read the research, but look at my child & take my cues from him. So I follow his favorite tastes to the blood type diet- he stops losing weight, success! I remove dairy from his diet, he stops spitting up, more success! I read how diet can change behavior, slow or even stop siezures (Little Man does not have siezures but I live in fear of them!)so I take out gluten - no easy feat to perform since I live in the middle of nowhere & gluten, well, lets just say that its everywhere. And here is where I hit my snag- he began to lose weight again! He went back down below 15 lbs & I damn nearly wept. I mean he's 19 months now & I struggle to get calories into him. Soooooo, I went out & I bought jarred baby food. Previously, I had made all my own, thinking that was best for him. Nope! He now back up to 15 lbs. 9 oz. & he happily eats pasta, and basicly anything else that comes processed in a babyfood jar. I even fed the gerber baby, just like Kristin :)

Also, I have decided to take the "al a carte method" to therapy. After reading about & you tubing just about every therapy there is, I'vce decided to do a little bit of this & a little bit of that. Why? I have no money & live in the middle of nowhere:) I do have a checklist of things that I do have access to, chiropractor, Feldenkrais, massage therapy & hippotherapy. So those are what I will persue in addition to our wonderful ECI therapists. Really, I am very lucky to have landed in this county in particular. Little Man's therapists are wonderful:)
There are lots of other things going on too, health insurance, special-ed preschool, potty training, jobs, ex-wives, old parents, date nights, birthday parties, I tell ya, the fun never stops around here.

You fed the Gerber baby (lol). That's awesome!! Grandma Sue will be proud that she's passed it on beyond our family. :)

I know the bear of concerns with weight gain. Cayman's still a little peanut. She's nearly 25 months old and weighs 19 lbs. 12 oz.

Jill (Matthew's mommy) told me about Flax Oil. I add it now to Cayman's bottles. It has the good kind of fat in it that's healthy for brain growth, plus it adds more calories. Cayman gets only 1 tsp of it over a whole day. I've been told it can make the stools loose but so far I haven't noticed that yet but I just started giving it to her. Plus we've started giving her the equate version of ensure, at the higher caloric content (found at Walmart). In just 8 oz. there are 350 calories and loads of vitamins! I don't know for sure how truly "healthy" it is from a holistic stand point, but for now I'm just trying to pack on the pounds for her. I fear she might be having another shunt surgery coming up soon (she's outgrowing this one) and I don't want her to go backwards in weight from that.

I think it is absolutely awesome that you stay so well researched and understand how nutrition can make such an impact on the overall well being. It's absolutely true!!

LOVE the shades!

HAPPY NEW YEAR OF LIFE! What a great reason tip the ol' lifestyle at a different time of year!

In this moment, I am just thankful that nutrition is not my 'expertise'.

You might be grateful you do not have lots of money for sellers of snake oil to take advantage of you.

And while winter was not your season of favor, the time to read is a blessing, eh?

So happy to see some new photos of Little Man and to read your cheerful words. Barbara
