A Good Appointment!

For once! I needed it too!
We had our 6 month review with the Neurologist! Considering that I never know how to feel about neurology appointments: scared? happy?[not!] relieved? Hmmmm, today I was neurotic. Yup, that's my word of the day.

We check in & Capt. Chaos is just exploding in his 4 year old glory all over the waiting room. Lucky me! Once the nurse calls us back she asks all the normal questions & then after each answer, she peeks at Little Man. I understand that these are questions are read off a list but come on, after hearing that he's 2 do you really need to know his grades & if he's having any behavior problems? I told her he gets an A for effort but fails gym class, he simply doesn't move all that great! I can have a bit of fun with these questions, right? Anyways to prove that Little Man is little: Final numbers; 17 pounds, 3 ounces. 30 inches long. The Little Man is, well, little!

So we see the good doctor...I tell him about my horrible last visit to the neurosurgeon's office where I was bragging to him how well Little Man was doing & then wham! what was that? A seizure? I dunno? by the way he has microcephaly too, and ending with my explanation as to why Little Man probably has a sticky note in his file somewhere about how I yelled at Radiology about why he does not need to be sedated for a CT. Ever.

So I expressed my fear of him having a seizure & me not knowing it. He has never gone limp, gone rigid, been "absent", been non responsive, flinched, flailed, or spasmed to my knowledge. I admitted to him that I watch ALOT of youtube videos of kids having seizures, looking for Little Man in any of them & can't find him. So could we pretty please do another EEG? What a nice doc. Agreed to the repeat EEG. I understand that we may never be out of the "woods" so to speak regarding seizures due to the hydrocephalus, agenesis of the corpus collosum & a previous abnormal EEG (but no seizure activity on that either) but it might be helpful to have another one to compare to. I dunno. I'm just glad that he's getting another one.

But it was nice to be able to brag again about all that the Little Man has been up to, the beginning of commando crawling, greater head control, sitting unassisted for about 2 min. and CHOICES! Choices folks, Little Man has been making them; so much so that he now has a fave t-shirt. Really. Exciting. Stuff. Once I find the little tiny card that goes in my phone so I can get pics onto the computer, I'll be posting about all his "feats of strengths"!

Outstanding!

Call yourself neurotic if you want but your behavior is anything but pathological.

I will email you (soon) to make plans to meet at WCD. I need to get to work on that! Barbara
