And it does not help that he's easy on the eyes to boot!
We had another awesome appointment. Its kind of nice, especially since our first, oh year was full of not so nice appointments! A mom could get used to this!
We saw Dr. H, the one who installed my most favorite piece of medical equipment into Little Man's head- The Shunt. Still working (yay! knock on wood!) The last time we saw him, he interrupted my monologue of "awesome things my son does" by asking me if he just had a seizure since he had just bobbed his now too small head. Sheesh.
Well this time, there were no interruptions so I got to show off Little Man's skills of excellent head & trunk control (for a spastic quad mind you) independent sitting (criss cross apple sauce!) eye contact, looking at people when they spoke, smiling & the piece de resistance? A high five from Little Man to the Dr. I was on cloud nine!
My questions were answered, suggestions given, and we don't have to go back until August! If things continue as they have after age 3 we only need to see him yearly unless something happens with the shunt.
The only drawback to the appt. was the HOUR and 30 MIN. wait in the waiting area. Good Grief. He did apologize profusely, he said the first day back from vacation is always a doozy. He was not kidding. It did give me alot of time to see who else was in there. Lots of food for thought. I had a great conversation with a 13 yr old boy who was told me his full name, his mother's full name & his sister's full name. He asked me my name & Little Man's name & he played so nicely with him. He said hello to Capt. Chaos & anyone else who walked by. I tried to put myself into his mom's shoes & treat them the way I would want to be treated. I hope I did alright. We talked about shoes & birthdays & coffee & hairstyles. He was a great kid:)
I also saw 2 hydro babies. Its hard to see them because it takes me right back to the NICU & how uncertain everything was. Things are still uncertain, but we can at least live a life. Back in the NICU we didn't even know when we were getting out.
Capt. Chaos sharing his sleeping bag with Little Man.
It was too sweet to see him drag his sleeping bag out into the living room & ask if "brother could cuddle wif me". Little Man just seemed to know it was special thing to do.
One of these days I will figure out how to work the flash so LM doesn't close his eyes!

So happy to hear the great news! And this has to be the cutest picture ever, I love it!!!
Great to hear all went well at the appt.
Awful those NICU flashbacks huh!
We spent almost an hour in a neurosurgeon waiting room last week also. My daughter doesn't have hydro but she has enough other issues to make me undertand. :) A mom walked out with a little baby in her arms with an adorable large head and you could see clearly the shunt tubing. I just wanted to smooch on her cheeks, she was the cutest little girl with sparkly eyes and a graet smile. I hoped that the mom realized I was smiling back at the baby, who was smiling at me, because she was ADORABLE and not because I was staring at her. You know the feeling I'm sure.
Anyway, I am glad that your son's appointment went well and you were able to show off his accomplishments! That's always fantastic. And to not follow up for a year is even more fantastic!!
Don't you just love it when you get to the point where they say, 'looks great! See you in a year'. Music to my ears :)
Overwhelmingly cute boys! I just want to run my fingers through those blond locks!
Move over on cloud nine! He is doing really well! Gives me a light and airy feeling, too! Very happy for you all!
You did a great job telling what the waiting room was like. I think you did alright for what its worth.
