Leaps and Bounds

My boys are learning and growing in ways I never expected. Capt. Chaos is reading- at first I thought it was just him memorizing favorite books that were read over and over (and over and over) again. However, I can now say, he is reading! Its awesome what they are learning in Kindergarten now. It's like kindergarten today was my first grade. He's also picking up Spanish here and there. Last week he did a whole unit study on the Solar System. I am blown away.
I always thought he was smart but I also knew I was biased. Don't all moms think their kids are smart? Capt. Chaos regularly says he is bored in school. Its boring! When he wakes up he didn't want to go to school but by the time the bus rolls up he's excited to get on and go. He's happy when he comes home too, although he's starving and a little cranky. Nothing a few graham crackers and cartoons can't solve :)
He brings home notes that for make me laugh though. My mother was right! I grew up and had a kid who was just like me! Here are some of the notes he comes home with:
"Talking and singing loudly in the restroom, by himself"
"Making noises while the class was counting"
"Falling on purpose in the hallway"
Sounds like he's keeping himself entertained. He's doing great academically, either at or above grade level for everything. He just needs to listen/follow directions, clean up his supplies and keep his hands to himself. He's acting like a normal 5 year old and I love it!

So fun to read the notes from school! Wonderful to read about how well he is doing! You and his dad have reason to be proud!
